Here are a few calls that have had success this season so far. The short call in the middle is for cackler's and the three longer calls are for honkers. Our local wintering cackler population is huge and so far this call has proved to be working it is very high pitched and gets a little raspy if you need it to. Since these birds usually only squeak as we say this call will reproduce that sound with a little practice.
The chartreuse one in the front is my first acrylic call to turn not knowing what to expect before beginning I was surprised to see the finished product. It did turn out better than I expected to be honest. The sound is second to none also a loud call for the windy days but it is able to soften up for the close in work. The smoke and green sounds the same as the chartreuse but is a little easier to blow as the insert is not belled out as much in the end requiring a little less back pressure.
The call on the far right is maple burl and has a real nice sound good low moans and murr murr's while also hitting the high come back's.
Most of my call style's are similar to the acrylics seen above but since these are custom calls no two are exactly the same.
I will only send a call out the door if I would be proud to wear it around my neck. My goal is to make a call that not only sounds good but is nice to look at and most importantly is easy on the wallet. Remember they might not be brand name calls but they are custom hand turned and all tuned individually for you.
